Pesticide is designed to kill things; detergent isn't.

I too have started to reuse as much water as I can. I keep two 2 pint plastic milk bottles next to the sink to fill whilst waiting for the water to heat up, just as hardpressed does. I also wash down the slabs in the garden (after my two dogs do you know what!) with the washing up bowl water instead of wasting the water from the butt which I tend to keep for the plants.

If you have rain water tubs near your house don't pour dishwater or veg water in them because they will smell bad. Have a stand alone tub away from your house for dirty water. Use it on non edible plants, and hard established plants like rose bushes, shrubs and trees. Also use eco washing up liquid.

recycling water....can you use water that has been used to wash up dishes with (therefore washing up liquid) to water any veggies that you could be growing in the garden.
As we currently have water shortages where we are we are tryign to see if this would be a viable option.

I often throw the washing up water on the garden, but then I use Ecover washing up liquid which is environmentally friendly; I'm not sure I'd put the water on veggies otherwise, but I don't see why you couldn't use it on the lawn.
