Washing machine 'rust'? marks

Options
Over the past few months the washing machine has started leaving red/rusty coloured marks on clothes.

I have tried to read up on this and it could be due to the water heater, as it is generally only used on 30/40c washes, or the bearings???

The machine is a Bendix and is just over 3 years old, is it likely that either of these could be at fault?

Has anyone else had this problem and managed to solve it, any advice would be great as its starting to make me  as it only seems to happen to my clothes!!

Thanks!!

If its the bearings then you will be able to hear them on the spin cycle, and also by just spinning the drum by hand. The sound you're looking for is a sort of rumble coming from the drum, the drum itself acts to amplify the noise, so as it gets worse you cant miss it. If the bearings were causing the problem you describe I would have thought the noise on a fast spin cycle would be very noticeable.

In that case then, it is probably not the bearings as i cant remember it being more noisy than normal!

I will give it a spin by hand and listen closely just incase.

    Thanks
