that are recently offering apprenticeships. My son is nearly 17 and undecided whether to stay on at school for another year and would like an apprenticeship like electrical/engineering We have been on the website and also he has spoken to connexions advisor but there seems to be a lack of them.

He passed all his GCSE's and is a concientious hard working lad. Can anyone help at all we live in the middlesex area.

Thank you

    Hi
He needs to make an appointment with the careers officer, I think this is done via the jobcentre. Also look here

    Good luck

PS if he decides to stay on at college he can earn up to £30 per week with EMA

I think it's Connexions who help 17 year olds. They should be able to advise on local opportunities, and he should still have a personal adviser (although all ours ever seem to have done is send leaflets and booklets, but then my offspring have been quite easy to deal with!)

    Hi

Have you made enquiries with local firms and colleges maybe something like the old YTS with a day release?

I know when I did a summer job at a burglar alarm company there was a YTS lad there then.

    Good luck to him

  • Thank you for your replies- he has tried all the options.I think its a case of keep looking and something might turn up. I just thought that someone might know of a company that do apprenticeships that do not advertise the fact(if that makes sense).

We will go through the local phone book later and draft a letter asking if they have any vacancies for apprenticeships.
    Anyone good writing letters??????????? lol

cor Im stressed and its not even for me!
