I tend to percieve this board as the font of all knowledge. If anyone can help with this I know it will be one of you old stylers.
How do I get printer ink (probably black) off a white quilted throw?  The ink has already dried and I haven't tried anything yet because I'm worried it will make it worse.
Please help and thank you for any suggestions

Try soaking the affected area in milk overnight and then wash as normal - it has worked for me with writing inkBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

We (well hubby!) split printer ink on the cream hall carpet of the house we were renting. I tried 1001 but it just left a bigger blue blob!
I was pretty resigned to losing a big chunk of our deposit. 2 years later hubby tried the new steam cleaner on it and it vanished! I was gobsmacked.
Do you know anyone who has one you can borrow?Piglet

Thank you. :A
My cousin has one, I'll ask nicely. Hopefully if the milk leaves anything behind the steamer will shift the rest.

was going to suggest steamer! as i once spilt milk on a carpet and had the devils own job getting the smell out!
for some reason - johnsons baby wipes were brill at getting permanent marker out of my carpet! other brands just dont do it!
a friend of mine swears by shaving foam! never tried it but hey - If it works for her! might work for you.0 -
I normally swear by acetone - the active part of nail varnish remover, on anything from the sticky stuff left by labels, to beetroot stains, tho I am not sure that it would be good on cloth - but it definitely strips wood varnish!
If you go to a good chemist, you can buy just the acetone, the active ingredient in nail varnish remover at half the cost - but please test a tiny area first in case it eats a nice hole!
I do agree on the milk thing, it isn't an "old wives tale" at all, it also seems to neutralise hard to remove stains and they disappear.
GL with the ink!I will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
An alternate combination of hairspray (yes hairspray) and then flushing it with cold water, more hairspray and cold water etc., will remove pen ink from fabrics. Would presume printer ink is a little more vicious though
Good luck0 -
As above I'd use hairspray has been used countless times in our house to remove ink, duvet covers to wallpaper.

My partner spilled black printer ink on his beige study carpet. Neat Stardrops did the trick but it was used as soon as spill happened.0

if the ink is water based, any of the simple 'water and detergent' methods should work. To try the ink, run a sheet of something printed under the tap, if it washes away you may be in luck.
