Looked on web and there is constant talk of electrolyic capacitors. What are they and what should a repairman charge me?

May be worth having a search through the forums here. There has been a lot of talk recently regarding the Sale of Goods Act, and warranties. The basic drift is that if you buy a particular item, it is reasonable to have an expectation of how long that item will last, regardless of warranty. So, an expensive TV or computer should last longer than a pair of slippers - ie when you buy a TV you don't expect to have to replace it after 18 months.had it 18 months so 6 months out of warranty,
In your case, if you purchased from a reputable retailer, and still have the receipt, it may be worth contacting the retailer and quoting the relevant words. Depends on the retailer how they react to this, some may ask you to get an engineers report.0
