My TV won't work please help

My Lg 32 inch Hd ready TV has turned itself off, and won't come back on any advice?
Looked on web and there is constant talk of electrolyic capacitors. What are they and what should a repairman charge me?

Caps - a few pounds really. See Maplins. Different values and voltages. You will want the 105c ones.

May be worth having a search through the forums here. There has been a lot of talk recently regarding the Sale of Goods Act, and warranties. The basic drift is that if you buy a particular item, it is reasonable to have an expectation of how long that item will last, regardless of warranty. So, an expensive TV or computer should last longer than a pair of slippers - ie when you buy a TV you don't expect to have to replace it after 18 months.
In your case, if you purchased from a reputable retailer, and still have the receipt, it may be worth contacting the retailer and quoting the relevant words. Depends on the retailer how they react to this, some may ask you to get an engineers report.
