Is this a trick?

I finally started looking at reclaiming bank charges two weeks ago. I dont know what charges i have so i sent the letter requesting information. I have recieved a reply from first direct today. Saying they have recieved letter and would have all the information sent to me by courier shortly. But they have also returned my cheque saying this is all free? I am paranoid now as nothing usually goes right for me. Is it a trick or are they being nice????????

Depends what information you asked for? Did you use the standard template letter from the Consumer Action website asking for your DPA stuff?

I know some banks have waived the fee. Mine, Natwest, cashed my cheque!
  • No, they're being nice. If you look on the Consumer Group website forums, there are other people who have had their DPA charge returned by HSBC. Keep it and rejoice!!

    Hi there light :)
I claimed from First Direct and they do not require you to pay for the statements. They will also send the statements out to you fast and by courier so be ready for a knock on the door early int he morning LOL. If you read through some of the threads on First Direct on the CAG website you will find out how First Direct normally do things.
Good luck - but we all know you dont need good luck because you WILL get your money back :p
    All the best
