'Toilet seat' advice..which to buy?

We had a lovely plastic toilet seat for the last 7 years which finally broke last week. We bought a new one for £8 from wilkinsons but it keeps moving and then breaking. Obviously we will be taking it back, but I don't know what to buy in it's place.

I want another white seat. It doesn't matter if it's plastic or wood, but I don't want it to move around when we sit on it.

I've looked at a couple of different ones on the Argos website but they have really mixed reviews, so i thought i would turn to my moneysaving experts on here.

Can anyone recommend a not too expensive good, non-slip toilet seat to buy?

Thank you

£8 is cheap , very cheap .... too cheap

But its not the seat thats the problem , its the inability to tighten the wing nut .
Is the design wrong .?? on all seats .

    Seen this fix

Prob too late but I also got mine from Ikea, it wont move unless I chose to take it off the fittings. Is about 5 years old now and was about £5 or £8 or something, wooden and still many years life in it yet!

Received it today and fitted it and it has solved the problem. Thank you so much. We were ready to pay alot more for a seat that didn't move so you have saved us money. (The seat we got from wilkinson for £8 was nice and comfy but just kept wobbling, so now that is fixed we are happy).

Thats really great news , thanks for the update.
And for those that rightly said Aldi /Ikea / etc did not move . great, but because of the design , will it move in the future??

We all use a thin rod , in a wide hole!!
Then expect a flat washer to keep it all secure .
The logic of a shaped washer :T

I seem to be getting a new seat every year, and I am having do a lot of maintainence in the meantime, i'm really not sure what my family are doing!

Go for a plastic , slow closing model , ' cant' be slammed down so it will last
And plastic will not rot .

And yes I know a wooden seat is nicer , treat yourself to an expensive one
( I had walnut :rotfl:) when the boys leave home.
