JSA Income based help

Hi,

I would be grateful for any help as the jobcentre don't seem to have a clue.

I have been claiming JSA contribution based and it is just about to run out. I want to claim JSA income based and have been told you can only claim this if you're partner works less than 24 hours a week. My husband works in a school and works 34 hours per week but this is term time only (he get £859 after tax a month) so over the year it works on average just less than 24 hours a week. Does this mean I can claim Income based?

Thanks in advance!

You can claim income based but I'm afraid his earning will still wipe out any benefit. You will have to provide his wage slips.
  • have you applied for Working Tax Credit too, for your husband?
