This morning our kitten (8 months) was wandering round as normal, then dd said to me why has Crunchie got one eye shut? i looked at him and noticed one shut and have watched him since..one min he is ok the next one is shut and the other open..any ideas what it could be?..i have tried looking but cant see anything noticable..normally ide go down the vets but 1 they arent open and 2 im stuck in waiting for the fridge. We are away fri so need ot get sorted before then as hes off to the cattery.

does he seem in distress at all? i'd bathe it in cooled boiled water with cotton wool and see if he opened it then, if he doesnt then i'd whisk him off to the vets as soon as the fridge comes, cos if he's got a infection he'll need anti biotics asap to try and clear it by friday!Mummy to

Can you at least ring the vets? They will have an out of hours service.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

if its anything like my vets though they would just say to ring back in office hours if its not an emergency, and i doubt they'd class a gammy eye as an emergency.
come back gaby, i want to know what was up with the eye!
when we first introduced the little kitten to the big kitten, the big kitten went round for a couple of hours with an eye closed and i got all worked up thinking little kitten had scratched his eyeball, but he just randomly opened it again when i tried to look!Mummy to

my dog had something similar to this. my vets told me to soak his eye in cold tea! Sounds odd but it really worked!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j

Hi thanks for the replys..well hes slept all of the day so far..he was awake lots though earlier so prob really tired!..he woke up when the fridge came and did a runner so isn't lethergic or anything like that..he opened the eye ok but then it closed again with the other one staying open..i checked it again and he had a bit of sleep but nothing that looked too bad..not sure really till he wakes..can't do much with him at the mo as vets full, we have hair apt anyway to go to (although ide cancel if this was more serious) and no dh here to take him..will see what he is like later and get him in tommorow if not.
Edit..just gone over to stroke him and he seems so tired so cant see eye.0 -
Eye infections can cause blindness, I'd call that serious! My brother has been battling with a double eye infection (bacterial and viral) for a couple of months that has caused a lesion on his cornea
the reason it's gone on so long is it developed the day he went abroad on holiday so wasn't treated properly at first. Please please speak to the vet.

Get it sorted as FF says it can lead to ulcerations and then blindness. I have to put ointment in one of my dogs eye every day due to a tear duct not producing lubrication for his eye sufficiently.0

Well not long been in, he has opened it on and off but still not right. Vets close at 4pm and didnt get home till about 10 mins ago..just tried ringing now and they open at 9am tommorow and i have to ring back..will update when i know more thanks0

Had an eye ulcer myself once over Christmas one year - %(£(%*@(*$%(@£*(%( me, it was painful!
Maybe kit got a scratch from something (including himself if he was itching - they're daft like that).
But it's important. Don't want it turning into emergency eye removal - that would be expensive, if nothing else. I would have tried other vets, as not all are closed so early. And I'd be waiting on their doorstep in the morning.
Stuff hair. Tired can mean pain or serious illness with kittens. Kittens are supposed to be compact explosions of destruction, interspersed with occasional comatose minutes.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
