GOT IT! Smaller low energy bulbs

Options
We are slowly changing all our light bulbs to low energy bulbs, some have cost about £5, some have been free and some from £1 shops.  To tell the truth, I can't remember which are which and neither can I tell the difference.

However, because the shade in each room is an uplighter, it hasn't been possible to change to low energy as they are too long and the bulbs touch the metal frame.

But, quite by chance whilst in a guest house, I commented that ALL their bulbs were low energy so how did they manage to get suitable bulbs?.

I was then shown a catalogue which proved that small low energy bulbs ARE available.

If anyone is sufficiently interested, then look at https://www.lyco.co.uk. You will be able to request a catalogue. Mine came within 24 hrs. Oh yes, prices per bulb about £2 and a modest delivery charge. and finally, I have no connection with this company. islandman

Which ones did you order, I cannot find any one at £2. The micro one costs over £4?

  • I have just moved into a new house so this is one of my projects

I was in B&Q last week and they have every type imaginable from the smallest screw type.

Not as cheap as £2 but lets you know they are available

Marylee, if they sent you the 44 page leaflet, on page 18 are micro spiral bulbs in 3 wattages 90 x 30 in size.

The cheapest being £2.85 if you buy 10 or more, £3.49 if not.

If you have the large catalogue on page 42, 101 x 50 size at £2.75 (over 10) or £3.39 less than 10.

The point is, if anyone is considering changing ALL bulbs, then the reduction for 10 is good.

As the brochure only arrived yesterday, I have'nt ordered yet, but I aim to within the next day or so. islandman. oh, and thanks for the thanks, glad to have been of help.

  • I got my small energy bulbs from screwfix as my husband often order things from them, I think their prices are quite good too.

Just to mention that I didn't compare them with island man's recommended link so don't know if screwfix is any cheaper though.

    Any chance someone
    could reduce the
    width of this page.
