If you referring to what I call a snot sucker then they do to a certain extent. I used saline nose drops first the loosen any mucus and then used the snot sucker. Be warned if you are squeamish it's not for the faint hearted!!!
It is only a temporary measure and babies don't like it so be wary of stressing them out too much.
A tip re saline drops - don't spend a fortune on Nasosil and like (£2.99 I think for a small bottle) - I picked up a bottle from Boots pharmacy for about 50p (if not less than that!). Ask for the non branded ones - they should have some.

A bowi of water in the room near the radiator will increase humidity when will help loosen any mucus. I put a few drops of essential oils in too like peppermint, eucalyptus, pine that kind of thing, or you can use carvol/olbas oils. I didn't get on with the snot sucker!

Have seen the snot suckers out there but never been brave enough to try them. I did buy one of those vicks vapour fans when they were on offer but they don't last long and are expensive, didn't think it really worked either. I prefer to use a couple of drops of albas oil, Probably spelt that wrong. Steamy baths and if need be letting them sleep in the carseat/pushchair slightly tilted when you are really desperate. I did worry about letting my baby sleep like that but the health visitor said if it will help them sleep when ill so be it. I still find now my 2yr when he has a cold will not sleep in his bed but fall asleep right away as soon as he gets in his car seat, they wouldn't sleep if they aren't comfy, recently found myself going for a long country drive so my little darling could get some sleep after a bad night.
  • I didn't put my two in car seats to sleep, but did raise the head end of the cot up on books when they were all snotty. Also the Karvol capsules/olbas oil on the pjs.

    It's only a game

I found the booger sucker great, though my little ones were not so keen! Could never bring myself to squirt stuff up their nose first (I imagine its like when water goes up your nose in the swimming pool) but the sucker was good when they got that really thick snot that's like dayglo custard.

I also second the raising the head of the cot, kavol, baby vapour rub etc too.
  • Salt water is more effective IMO. Just a tiny drip, baby snorts and pulls a funny face, but nose unblocked. Just ask pharmacist for saline solution and it will be very cheap (my GP used to prescribe it)
