Freezer meat question

Can anyone tell me why the meat in my freezer is getting 'freezer burn'?
I pack it in bags usually.
Is it the way I pack it? Is the setting too high? Or any other reason?
I really haven't a clue
It tastes ok when I cook it but some of it doesn't look great and it hasn't been left in there any great lenght of time.
Help please
LL

You get freezer burn when the air reaches the food. Even tightly tied-up freezer bags can let the air through if the plastic is poor quality. This may help:

When I freeze meat in bags I hold the mouth of the bag squeezed almost closed with one hand and soook the air out as much as possible (yes with my mouth...fussy folk can use a straw) then clip it shut with a freezer clip.

I've been using the Tesco bags that you use for fresh fruit and veg, so guess that's the wrong type.
Used them because they are free....................
Will try them doubled before buying freezer bags.

    Hey :)
I wrap mine tightly in several seperate layers of cling film, but perhaps make sure what you are using is suitable for the freezer as many aren't. I usually do 3 or 4 layers. Even then sometimes with "rummaging" a layer or two comes loose, I just add a layer. May not sound so "money saving" but certainly better than freezer burned meat :)
