OH ruined the grass--any ideas?

Hi
I am not sure if I am on the right board---anyhow here goes!! My OH never cuts the grass but last week I was busy and I asked him if he could do it for a change. He managed to do it and when i came back I said it looks very short! He had put the spacer thing right down to "save having to cut it again in a hurry!!".Well he has completely ruined the grass---it is covered in what looks like burnt dead patches----any ideas as to what I can do.When I ask him what he thinks of the mess he says he hasnt noticed and he says I know he hates gardening so not to ask him again!!!!
I am going in to town today and was wondering whether a lawn feed would help?
Thanks

Might be worth a try, how about adding a load of new grass seed down as well.

Grass is pretty hardy. It will grow back eventually on its own. But you can speed things up with weed/feed and some grass seed. Keep watering it (if your allowed) and it should recover in a couple of months.HKP

What has happened is that he cut the grass too short. In hot dry weather it shouldn't be cut too short. Did you have a downpour in the night/early this morning? That will have helped.

I did the same after a wet spell - thought I would do it on the lowest setting "to save myself having to do it again the next week".
All I ended up doing was churning it all up and in the end it looked like something from the battle of the Somme.
But it quite hardy stuff, and does recover a bit eventually.0 -
Great advice offered, tell him he needs practise and he has to do it until he can do it properly

Very cheap grass seed in tescos at the moment. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

It's strange how weed and feed works on everything except grass - being the most virile of all weeds :rolleyes:0
