West Yorkshire Information and views on Under/overdwellings
Hi, we are thinking of buying a place in Hebden bridge area/ Mytholmroyd and have been looking ( on line) at the under/overdwellings.
I have seen a couple of underdwellings I like the look of, but would like to know if any of you have any experience of living in one type or the other or know anyone who does?
Can the neighbours hear each other ( I am thinking normal regular everyday stuff, washing machines/doors closing etc.)
I have lived in two styles of regular back-to-back in the past and am aware of the pro's and cons with those and wondered how these under/over dwellings compared.
Also within this general area are there places best avoided?
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
I live in Mytholmroyd. This may be too late a response but I've just seen your post :-)
I don't live in an under-dwelling but have a friend who does and she has had no problems with noise barring the usual ones you would get in a terrace. I suppose it would depend on how noisy your neighbours are but the houses are very solidly built.
PM me if I can help further.

Hi Tess,
Thanks for the reply, I have pm'd you but am still up to hear from anyone who lives in one of these types of houses.0 -
Hi - I'm in the area too, recently bought a house but not an over/under - we dismissed them for fears of noise. We've since figured out via friends that it's no worse than living next door to someone. The main problem around here seems to be parking though, so I'd suggest you bear that in mind!0

Do you know if those who live in an OVER, rather than the under have to have THEIR roof repaired, or is there some quaint law/covenant that stipulates they SHARE the cost of roof repairs with the UNDER dwellers?
Anyone know what the law is on that aspect?
