For a basic camera it looks ok to me, ideal for holidays etc when if the worst happens and it gets lost/broken it's not such a major big deal.

I'd save your money - you can get a much better one for another £30 or so. Watch these boards.

It's good for a basic camera, but I think Optical (rather than Digital) zoom is very important.

Don't be a slave to megapixels it will produce snaps which will be more than adequate. For the price it looks a very good deal. My only comment would be to agree that it has no optical zoom.

Toysrus have a Lumicron 4.1MP for £29.99 and a Jenoptik 5.2MP for £39.99, both with optical zoom. They were in the Warrington store, but I can't see them on the website. I got the Jenoptik and whilst it isn't up there with my Nikon, it's not far off. The results are excellent.

As bella4uk says, I won't be too stressed if it gets lost/broken/full of sand

I agree - don't be bamboozled by megapixels. My first digicam had 768 kilopixels (that's less than 1 megapixel), and I could print 6x4 prints which were as good as film. At the end of the day it depends on the quality of the lens, the quality of the sensor, and the software inside the camera.

If you want good picture quality, you are unlikely to get it for 29.99 - but it may well be acceptable for the price - or for a child wanting their first camera.

Whilst this is likely to be ok for the money ; a camera from a reputable brand will produce much better pictures ( even if its a lower megapixel camera). This one has a cmos sensor which almost always produces inferior pics to the ccd sensors in reputable brands ( especially on low light/ interior shots)

The best buys are the cheap end of range cameras ( or refurbs) from the big camera brands ( olympus, canon , nikon, pentax, sony, casio, kodak )

    eg
    £50 for a kodak ( 4mp , 3x optical zoom )
