Well it's not a game made specially for the Nintendo DS, but Super Mario Bros. 3: Super Mario Advance 4 is an older Gameboy Advance version which should play on your daughter's DS.

It might be older, but if it is the gameplay she is must attracted to, then it should be a cheap buy & keep her occupied.

I can't post a link, but pocketgamer.co.uk have a review and it can be had for as little as £10 if you shop around online. (Most high street shops won't have it because it's an older game)

Here is a quote from Nintendo site that the Nintendo DS can play the game:-

"Can the Nintendo DS Lite play Game Boy games?

    What it can play:

Game Boy Advance games in single-player mode only
    Game Boy Advance videos

    What it cannot play:

Original Game Boy or Game Boy Color games
Game Boy Advance games in multi-player mode"

Mario is single player only so you will be ok.
