Hi everyone,
wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the mobiles forum but since this is specifically for scotland I thought someone might have a suggestion for me. I've just got a new PAYG sim card and need to get a samsung phone unlocked from orange so I can use it - I know going through Orange themselves can be quite steep so was wondering if anyone knew of any reasonable shops in glasgow that I could go to? Thanks a lot!

You might have already tried this, but check out this thread first to see if you can do it for free Free codes for Unlocking Phones OTHER than Nokia's.

There are loads of wee shops along in Partick which used to do it. Couldn't recommend one but there were plenty to choose from!

    Hi Georgina,
Yeah I did try that thread before I posted, its a samsung e800 and it doesn't seem there is a free code or the online unlocking places do it so I think I have no option but to go to a shop. Forgive my ignorance edinburghlass but where in the west end are the west end markets and when? I live in the east end just near the city centre so don't know the west end that well! Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I think Edinburghlass was meaning week-end markets. eg 'the barras' if they still exist.

Ah! Doh. Think I ended up with west end cos the previous poster had mentioned the west end. I was kind of discounting the barras due to its dodgy reputation. I feel I'd rather pay that extra few pounds in a shop I know is reputable than go there. Maybe its just the impression I have of the place and its not that bad but I never go to the barras due to it. Thanks for clearing that up though as I was sure I would've heard of any big markets in the west end!!

There is a shop on the main street of the barras just a corner down from the main hall and they do unlocking, i got my k700i done from a guy in the barras just up from the indoor butchers. Also what part of glasgow? As i also got a phone unlocked in alison street in the south side and my cousin got her e800 unlocked from cost cutters in east kilbride.
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi gk, I'm in dennistoun, just in the east end but near the city centre so was ideally looking for something city centre based - sounds like trying the trongate onto gallowgate area might be my best idea.

There are a few shops in the Gallowgate who do it. All are respectable
