valuation payments?

Applied on line for a mortgage through a financial advisor. on sat i left a message with him on his mobile, that I wanted to hold off on signing the papers as I'd found a better deal. He got back to me today to say the valuation had been done today and would cost £340. Am I liable even though nothing is signed? Advice would be great!

Are you sure nothing is signed?
I would have thought it "unusual" for a valuation to be done without a formal mortgage application having been submitted to the lender first.

As Ian has said, it is unlikely that they would have proceeded with the valation without you signing something.

Would be interesting to hear what the advisor says and if you post back with this, I am sure we can pass comment on whether or not you should be liable to pay or not.

What product had the adviser suggested and what product have you found? If the adviser was Whole of Market and has not got you the best deal then I would be interested to understand this too. Of course, you may have found a product with a lender that does not accept introduced business, in which case this is another example of the consumers rightful confusion of the terminology of Whole of Market.
