Hello
Long-time lurker, first post! Hoping for some adivce on my current situation.
6 months ago I bought some flat-pack furniture from a company online, along with some other items. A courier company made the delivery a couple of weeks later.
I've only just got round to setting about assembling the furniture (it was for a spare bedroom) and have discovered that not all the parts are in the box. In fact I think there is a box missing from the delivery.
I've checked the delivery notes and there are two different notes. The one covering the furniture has "3" in the items box, though it appears to be a "2" with "3" written over the top. I'm confident that only 2 of these items were delivered, but presumably my mother-in-law has signed for the entire delivery.
I've been in touch with the company but it's not looking good. Any suggestions how to proceed?

Could you try going back to the manufacturer. Did the company you brought them from actually manufacture the goods?

I ordered furniture from MFI and was told I only had 7 days to check it was all there and ok. I put it in my garage and got round to building it a month or so later, luckily everything was there. Don't know how long the company you ordered from would give you to check it, but worth asking them to sort it out. Just say you want to order more from them in the future, and they may sort it out in the hope of getting future orders. Good luck.:hello:0

could you not buy it again and return the boxes with the missing parts?0

Thanks for the advice so far.
The missing parts make up about a third of the item, so I don't think the manufacturer will help out (at least not for free).
The problem with returning it, is that the delivery notes say there were 3 boxes and I could only return 2 (because I only received 2). It's not just parts missing from a box, but an entire box missing from the delivery.
The company are in contact with the courier, but from their point of view (I expect) all the forms will appear in order.0 -
I would ask why the 3 was handwritten over the 2 and by who.
Say that you only noticed it was 3 after you had a second look.
The first time you read it - you read it as 2. Probably like they did when they delivered it and then found a spare box at the end.0 -
I always sign my delivery notes-received but unexamined.Lots of companires have t &c s that say you have to return the goods within 1 month or so if there is anything missing, however if you dont ask you dont get.0
