Halifax CC is still a nightmare.
Rang them and asked if they could give us any help and they said that you have to MISS 2 payments in a row; get charged for missing, and charged for being over the limit [£25 a go] + interest, and have it recorded on your credit rating that you have missed the payments, then they will eventually help us. Then they said to go to the CAB AFTER missing the payments and get a financial report written up and send that to them.
Went to Halifax branch and all they could offer was a loan in which we have already been declined for [on the grounds of the charges that have been charged to the CC   ]; the lady said to go to the CAB to get some advice.
CAB point of view:
That Halifax is in the wrong in that they are basically refusing to give us any help whatsoever.
That missing 2 payments in a row to get any help is "A New One For Them".
And that we should challange the charges on the CC, by writing to them and explaining our situation. If they say no; we have to go back to the CAB to basically take them to court to get the charges removed and refunded.
Over the last 2-3 months; the CC has been charged around £150!
The interest put us over the limit in the first place - Bang - £25 charge. Then a DD was returned [in which we cancelled already] - another 25 + the virtual money they took off the account. A transaction was approved even though we were over the limit - that was returned + the overlimit fee [£25]. We then part paid one months min payment [by £6] - another £25 charge + interest + overlimit fee. That leads us to this month.
As it stands; if we pay the min payment of £37, - this still leaves us over the limit [as we havent go the cash to clear the arrears] - which we will then end up being charged £25; plus around £20-25 interest!
Its not that we CANNOT pay the min balance each month; its the fact that if we do; it will take around 7 months [as it stands now] to get under the limit including each £25 charge + interest.
If we pay - as the wife suggested to Halifax £10/week - they WILL NOT recognise them as being the minimum payment; and only additional/extra payments - f***sake:mad: [thats what they told her]
IMO, we should keep paying the min payments; and claim back the charges for the entire period of the account [wife has - i believe all the statements] with the CAB and see how it goes.
If we miss anymore payments; the account - if it goes to the collections [as it auctomatically does if we ring up and check the balance] the account will defualt and we dont want it to do that. Its the ****ing charges that have put us in this position in the first place
SO im off to the secret websiteto have a read and get the things needed to start the ball rolling.....;)
[Its nice to get it off the chest [unfortunately not off the mind] Justified rant over.....for now:o ]0 -
