Help with pricing please!

Hi everyone,

I've got my first ever craft fair on Sunday 6th and I'm so stuck on what to charge for what I've made.

The main thing I'm having trouble with is these bags:

I have lots all in different fabrics with different embellishments (flowers, buttons etc)

I just have no idea how much to sell for. They are all handmade, unique, fully lined, with interior pocket and take around 2-3hrs to make.

So, what would you be willing to pay? Some one has just asked me on Facebook how much I want for the black and cream one! :j

Thanks in advance,
Jen

^^I like the black and cream one as well lol :)

It depends what they cost to make - how much do they work out roughly for the materials to put them together?

It's a bit tricky to work out, some are made from quite expensive fabrics, but some are made of recycled clothes. The black and cream one started life as a top from Primark which I wore twice before a button fell off and I couldn't find it! The lining is black denim, which was a pair of maternity jeans :rotfl:

Thats why I'm finding it so hard!

I think you should price them as if you had bought the fabric to make them. It is difficult to suggest a price without knowing how big they are but my gut instinct says £12.50!

^^I was thinking along the £10-£15 range as well, depending on which ones were more costly to make.

  • i would think of the size when pricing too. i wouldnt pay more than say £8 for a smallish bag - by small i mean would fit in say, mobile, cigs, small purse, keys, little perfume/mini spray

for a larger bag i would pay upto £15 presuming i could fit in all of the above and a few other bits like, notebook/diary, bigger purse etc.

btw, the 1st ones my favourite too
    good luck
  • At least £10-£15 - but that said you have to remember this is MSE and everyone wants a bargain!! ....why not price at £16 ea and then change the tag if they arent selling well after an hour or 2? Put RRP £30 and say 'our price £16'....its all in the wording :D

Selling everything is the key but why sell out in an hour at a lower price instead of selling out in 3 and making a heck of a lot more!
