Council tax liability??

in Cutting tax
Hi, my daughter (who's the only person living in my property who's liable for council tax) has gone travelling with her new job. She travels all round the British Isles and has so far been away for a month and is intending to be away for a further 2 months before coming back home. She'll be here for a couple of weeks and then off again.
1) is she still liable for council tax here because all her things are still here at the moment and remain here even though she's living away.
2) will I be able to claim a discount for the months that she's away?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Your daughter would have to pay if your home is classed as her main residence, and it sounds as though it is if she has belongings there. If she lives there alone she CAN claim single person discount (25% reduction) off what she would have to pay. If your daughter was in full time education then she could be exempt. Hope this helps.0

1) yes she is liable for the Council Tax
2) no you won't, unfortunately.
The comment you made about still paying 75% of the Council Tax is right I'm afraid.
