I have been told by my empolyer that I must meet new standards to stay in empolyment or face redundancy. the course that i must go on is £3200 and I must pay that myself.
Does anyone know if I can at least claim back the VAT on this as I am using training to better my career, or be made redundant......
I have heard that I may but no one seems to know where to find the info.
Many Thanks

It doesn't look terribly hopeful, sorry. But it would be worth speaking to the CAB as it suggests. I'd recommend you also asked them about your employment rights while you were there.import this0

The simple answer is that nobody knows and it seems to be entirely dependent on whether the auditor at your tax office had a pleasurable night with the partner during the week.

(Warning, the second link is very involved and way out of my league)
The thing is, you are employed which is different to self-employment and that may count against you even if you are threatened with redundancy if you don't stump up the cash. I would see an employment lawyer at the very least or maybe pm zzzLazyDaisy who states in her signature she is a retired employment solicitor, she will at the least be able to point you in the right direction to find out if they can force this

A pal of mine in the airline industry has had to do exactly the same.
Then he has had his shift allowances cut, lunch breaks shortened and now a pay cut. Paid out thousands of pounds to keep a job that pays less and less.

If you could give some idea of the kind of training you're talking about, we could give a better idea of the funding situation.0
