under pressure

ok update time, big debt, with payplan, all companies invloved aint happy but mint and tesco loan have frozen interest and have agreed to the payments. Biggest problem MBNA (shock horror) they want £90 odd per month they will take me to court and say they WILL get awarded in there favour as my debt to them was due to gambling online. They say they WILL get charging order or attachment of earnings or man in white van will empty my house (so to speak)

So what do i do i could maybe stretch to paying them the money i feel under pressure right now

Mort, that's what these people want, to put you under pressure. No point promising them the money if you can't pay it.

I'd contact Payplan and let them deal with it, presumably they'll have experience of these scare tactics.
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

I agree, contact payplan and do not agree to pay MBNA extra as you can not be seen to be favouring one creditor. Let payplan deal with this. MBNA are known for being very heavy handed with threats like this, just keep telling them you cannot afford the payment and ask them to contact payplan giving them your reference number. If they call and try to pressurise you for payment do not agree and remember it's your phone and you can terminate the call. At one time MBNA were phoning us every day trying to get payment. In the end if it was a withheld numebr I just refused to answer it.

Try not to worry to much and contact payplan tomorrow and tell them about the letters.

just sending you my support and adding my vote to contacting Payplan, they are there to help you deal with those creditors so you should not react to one company's scare tactics. it is designed to put you under pressure, but i don't think any judge will make you pay something you don't have!!

    don't be pressured.

Pay them the pro-rata amount that Payplan calculated. This is just standard scare tactics to get you to treat them preferentially.

    Hi Mort,

I am with Payplan and MBNA is one of my creditors. I had these scare tactics, letters, calls. I let Payplan deal with it and MBNA did accept the repayment after a couple of weeks. They are now very helpful to me - after 3 consecutive payments I had a call from them saying they had removed the arrears on my account, shown this on my credit file, and will check in 6 months with me if I am in any better situation and can pay more, and if not they agree to the repayment currently being given. As everyone has said it is just a scare tactic, dont let them bully you.

I am with the CAB,, I "had" 4 X MBNA Accounts.. they were always giving me hastle,,, just tell them that what you have said you will pay,, you will pay.. but there is no more "cash" in the pot.. they will keep sending letter and post cards.. and keep ringing you... (in the end they sell your debts on,, thats what they did to me).. don't let them get you down... Good Luck
