Getting hair done at local college

Well as the title says I am getting my hair done at the local college tomorrow to try and save some money and I am scared I may come back with green hair or scalped...
Has anyone had experience of having their hair done at a college by a student and did it turn out ok???

yeah I get mine done all the time at the college. Never had it coloured, only cut but its always been just as good as any other hairdresser I been to. Just takes longer as the students have to wait til the tutor says they are doing each stage of the cut right. I always much prefer paying £3.50 than £20!0

I get my hair coloured and cut at the local college and have never had a problem. In fact in a strange sort of way I always feel abit more confident getting my hair done there as they are watched and checked every step of the way. I agree with the last post though, it does take longer- my last colour (all over permanent) and cut took just under 3 hoursxx0

The lecturers will be watching them carefully, so nothing bad will happen.
It's really great - you get a cheap cut and they get the practice that they really need :T0 -
Yep, had my hair cut and coloured at my local college for years now - they always do a great job, but I would advise taking a good book as it can take a lot longer than usual (but for the price, who would complain?!)
Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

agree. no problems with using the college for hair or beauty treatments. The students arent let loose until they are ready and as said before, always tutors one hand for them

The only problem with taking a book is you can't wear glasses while they are working with you.
Seriously if you go to my local college you have to go and get a skin test at least 24hrs before for every appointment when you are getting a colour. This can be a bit difficult if you have taken a half day off work to get it done and have to go in the day before as well.0 -
At the college in Birmingham you do not need to go the day before the skin test is valid for 6 weeks so you can go anytime up to the 6 weeks before the colour is done.0

i've tried two places - one great, one not so great! one was watched carefully and although it took a long time, i was happy. the other one was a bit odd - they said that they had to do a complete restyle rather than a trim and then cut it in a completely impractical way (apparently their idea of low maintenance was to only need to go to the hairdresser for a blow dry once a week!!). just be very clear about what you want when you arrive and all should be ok!:happyhear0

I go to Watford college to get my hair done... as someone above said the only pain is that you have to get a skin test done prior to having a colour, which means you have to pop in there beforehand. But i try and time this at the same time as a cut.
They take a while to do the cut as the teacher has to check everything, but are very good.0
