International debts?

I am being chased by our friends RMA for an outstanding debt that I have with MBNA. I have been in contact with MBNA (phone and letter) to explain that I am not in a position to discharge the debt as yet, but should be able to begin a repayment programme as from August. (I have moved to South Africa and do not begin work until July) I do not understand why RMA have now got involved, as MBNA told me I should make contact again in August.
Why are RMA calling? (I gave MBNA my new phone number immediately I had one, they obviously passed it on to RMA which I am a bit surprised at) What do RMA do with an international recovery?

maybe an oversight on MBNAs part. Have you rang them to ask why they have sold the debt? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I have and I have been told that I should not have been called, however I have since received another call from RMA, which was mildly menacing. I was tempted to tell him to p*** off, but refrained. As I am no longer in the country, I am intrigued as to how they would "collect" from me in any case. Any ideas??0

Mike St Helens might be able to help you on this matter. From what I gathered from Mike was that they cannot pursue a debt overseas but maybe it depends on cost of collection vs. the debt itself.
Sorry, cannot help much.0
