Also don't go to the high street you will get much more for your money in Hatton Garden or bluenile.com.

Congratulations and good luck on your search!
I found Hatton garden seriously expensive when I went, maybe because mine came from abroad

Also give up on platinum, I'm buying wedding rings right now, and a completely plain 3mm platinum band is costing £400, thats most of your budget.

A trip to Hatton Garden would get you a 3mm platinum band for less than £400, I know we bought two platinum rings recently. In fact you could easily get a 4 or even 5mm for that sort of price if you are a canny shopper)

Cheaper white gold needs to be re-coated more often, but better quality doesn't very often at all...
• Palladium isnt new an untested - it rose to popularity during WW2, when platinum was declared a strategic government resource.

It has gained in popularity recently because platinum has become far more expensive than palladium, and casting palladium has become alot easier with new techniques - price wise palladium is about the same as gold, but is from the same group of metals as platinum.

Our wedding rings are in Palladium, the 'white' of the metal was the draw for us. I honestly couldn't see the difference between that and the Platinum.

Why take them off for bed? How would you & your wife feel if one day she was in a rush & forgot to put them on, and you got burgled? They are much safer on her hand. Oh and buy her some Marigolds for doing the housework, if she thinks they'll get damaged.
• Diamonds have a status as being the ideal way to say I love you, concerned to as being “a girl’s best friend” and a sign of eternity. This is a conviction held by romantics all over the world; moreover the diamond is by far the most normally used stone in engagement rings. If diamonds are the majority precious stone, still then pink diamonds are in a class of their own. When you add a rare pink diamond, engagement rings truly turn into amazing symbols of an endless fondness.

The blue diamond is the most rarefied of the diamonds. In reality, less than one percent of the diamonds in the world are blue. Of this one percent, many are calmly colored, and only a little are the vivacious, rich blues that make up the rarest of this indefinable group of stones. Blue diamonds have been known to stay alive for many years, other than in anticipation of they suddenly grew in fame, they were mainly undesired. Subsequent to the fame bang of the rare blue diamond rings all over the place in progress to sport the beautiful stone.
Luminously colored and shining a rich and dazzling blue the ring was truly one of a kind. After the world got a look at this stunning rare pink diamond, engagement rings all over the place begin to take on more color, foremost many away from the conventional white diamond trend.
Whilst white diamonds are devoid of doubt still the most frequently bought diamonds, blue diamonds are extremely sought after. In totaling to standard methods of value diamonds, blue diamonds are also valued by the strength of their color. Bolder, darker diamonds take a higher price per carat than diamonds with merely a light touch of pink in their color. The blue of the diamonds is created by an only one of its kind mix of trace rudiments found in the Kimberley Argyle Diamond mine.

White gold needs to be plated on a regular basis, as it is yellow gold with a thin coating of (I think) rhodium.

just for referance, White Gold is an alloy of gold and a whiter metal, typically in the EU this is Palladium.

so just as Yellow Gold that is less than 24Karat is an alloy of Gold and a yellow metal, White Gold is a mix of 2 metals to make the gold appear white. it is then plated with Rhodium to make it shiny.

The exception in the EU is Italian White Gold which is, i believe, more commonly a alloy of Gold and Nickel. with a Rhodium plating (same with US White Gold)

Hiya, Well I've just ordered my own ring online (it's my christmas present) and I got it from Samara James, I got this

I'm so excited about it coming. But there are lots of other styles to chose from.

Seconded. Ordered my now fiances' engagement ring from them and have been thoroughly impressed by their service and price! Check out my latest post in the engagement ring thread to read about my experiences with them (sorry can't post links yet).

I went for the Leah setting in Platinum (last page in the Round Brilliant Engagement Ring section) but as others have said, go for the diamond with the best colour, cut etc. in your budget rather than size... That's what I did but also give them a call and tell them your budget - they'll try to find a diamond for you. Good luck with the search. ;)
