Hi,
I have just instructored estate agents to help me sell my house but would also like to try to sell it myself on the internet. Has anyone got any good sites/tips please. Obviously would like to do it as cheaply as possible.
Thanks

This is an interesting way of doing things - a couple near where I live set up this website to try and sell their house in an "alternative fashion". Have a good read of how they're doing it....its unorthodox, but its interesting.0

Hi Jacqs,
I'm a letting agent so go on these sorts of sites all the time. Whereabouts do you live?
Its usually better to go for a "local" site rather than a nationwide one as you'll get more hits from locally based people rather than from people at the other end of the country!
Try typing "sell house" or "estate agents in..(your area)" into a seach engine and see what comes up. You usually end up with a few 'sell your house yourself' type sites.0 -
thought of something else too on the tips front.
If you get people interested in viewing;
- Along with name and address, always take landline, mobile and car registration numbers.
- Try and find out about their situation - eg, house sold, under offer, renting. Some people make a career out of viewing properties with no intention of renting or buying them.
- try not to do viewings on your own, get a partner or friend round, just for a security point of view, personal and home.
- Never accept an offer on the spot!! - even if you get on famously with the people! Always ask for time to consider it. Most genuine people are happy with this.
Hope this helps a bit.0 -
And also beware, if you have appointed an estate agent on a "sole agent" basis that they can claim their commission even if you sell your house through your own endeavours and not to someone that the agent has introduced.0
