Contract spelling mistakes

IS a loan contract legal if they spelt the surname wrong, were told about it and refused to change it as it would affect the credit rating. So basically pressurised us into signing it as it was. thanks

Offer them all the money you borrowed back using the improper spelling as a basis for your argument.......

... or have you happily spent all the money but now can't be bothered to repay it??

As long as there is no dispute that it was you who signed the contract (and you admit you did, so there can't be) then it's valid.
  • A judge would simply ask why you signed a contract with incorrect spelling. You could have said no at the point they said they would not change it.

Minor typos do not invalidate contracts. Dzug 1 is correct.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
  • On my credit report my name is spelt differently 6 times, they are all linked to me on the report.

Has to be accuarate data on your credit file
  • Thanks all no just curious really, have pretty much cleared it. By the time we have claimed back the ppi, be them owing us money.

It isnt on mine, granted my name is unusual, but it is spelt differently 6 times on my credit file.

Does this mean I dont have to pay the debts!

No, of course not. The debt is yours and typographical errors do not invalidate the agreement. (You knew that, really, didn't you?)

I thoroughly recommend you stop all payments toward this loan immediately.

The consequences will be well deserved.
