Cheapest Way To Buy A New Car

Try http://www.autobytel.co.uk/, http://www.autotrader.co.uk/, and http://www.new-car-discount.com/index2.shtml.
A car up to one year old is probably one of the best value you can buy. But you can get new cars from these discount websites (they deliver the car straight to your door) for not much more than the price of a one-year-old car at a dealershipI'm married now! Yippee!0 -
By the way, a 1-2 year-old C-Class Mercedes Diesel should not cost £25k. We were looking at them and they were more like £20k. We went for the Toyota Avensis in the end (£14,800 new and cheaper running and maintenance costs).
In my opinion, Mercedes cars are a rip-off, in price and servicing. We've had an SLK for the past three years, and it looks great and impresses people, but it is not worth £30k as it is not even that nice to drive (and it is actually scary to be the passenger when hubby-to-be is driving!).I'm married now! nh, I am thinking about purchasing from new-car-discount I would be interested to know how your purchase is going. Regards Dave.0

Hi Dave
We didn't go ahead in the end cos we found an absolute bargain in the Auto Trader. It was the exact car we wanted at £11,495. Two years old and 30,000 miles on the clock. Quite high mileage, but it was a £3,300 discount on newcardiscount.com prices and £6000 discount on list price!
And Parker's Car guide said it was worth £12,250 in a private sale (which is what it was). I think the guy needed the money.
We reckon we'll keep it for about five years so the mileage wasn't too much of an issue. I have a Yaris that has done over 90,000 miles in five years and never missed a beat. Hopefully this new one will do just as well!
See https://www.autotrader.co.uk. If you are paying with cash, it certainly can throw up a few bargain motors.I'm married now! Yippee!0 -
Hi nh,
Appreciate your reply, many thanks Dave.0 -
Have you had a look at autoebid.com? They give you their maximum price and dealers/franchises bid lower to gain your custom.
Bought a Fiat punto from them last year and saved over £2000 on the list price.
Would highly recommend them.
(By the way, not connected with them in anyway, just gave a really good service)0 -

I've been looking at leasing v buying over the past few months and really does depend on what car you're going for.
https://www.lexfreechoice.co.uk offers a fairly comprehensive online quoting system, and have both new and nearly new cars available to either lease or purchase at the end of a specified term (between 24 and 60 months I think). I spoke to them a couple of times and was impressed with their service, although didn't actually go through them as they couldn't get the car I wanted ( a new SLK).
I ended up looking at an Audi A4 Cabriolet instead and shopped around on the web and found this place: https://www.drivethedeal.com which offered pretty much the best price I could find. I took the 'quote' (a quick screenshot) to the dealer and they beat the price by over £100 which impressed me. I effectively got a £3k discount on a brand new car - looking around for a nearly new one of these I couldn't find anything that was under a year old that was a cheap as a new one!!!
The other option is car supermarkets, they're not the best on customer service a lot of the time but their prices are generally very competitive. Have a look here:
https://www.cargiant.co.uk for some good London based bargains.
Have a look here for your nearest car supermarket:

Hope this helps0
