I know there are recipe threads etc about slow cookers, but they don't seem to answer my question.
I love the sound of some of the recipes on here but I am out of the house for 10-11 hours a day, could i leave them in there all that time if put it on low? Or would i end up burning the house down?
I would be grateful of any help. I need to start cooking instead of relying on convenience foods.

fruit-loop,
Slow cookers are designed to be left on for hours at a time. As there is very little evaporation from them, then they don't dry up. Give some recipes a try. Slow cookers take some getting used to so if you don't get a meal right first (or even 2nd or 3rd) time don't despair, just keep tweaking your recipes.
Don't worry, you won't come home to find your house burnt down either, as long as you follow normal safety procedures.0 -
Thank Ticklemouse, think I will try a curry in it tomorrow. Will probably be back posting about my disaster though, lol;)
I've only ever done stews in it before and then only gone out for a couple of hours.0 -
you could also buy a timer to switch it on and off at times you choose.
argos have them.0 -
I like the timer idea! I already have one aswell.0

I put a curry in mine once, anticipating that I would be home 8 hours later..........
needless to say, it didn't work out and I got home 12 hours later!! LOL!!! :rotfl:And it was still lush! Even more so actually!!!
So I wouldn't worry!! I regularly leave mine for hours! I wouldn't do without my slow cooker. I love him!!! LOL!Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j
