Hi. I know i am in a very lucky situation and have managed to get another job starting in a few months. I am eligible for R&R in my current job but it doesnt get paid until July 2010 (and is based on earnings in the tax year 2009/10). When the R&R came in I was given a letter saying that it would only be paid in July if you were still in your job, had not handed in your notice, but i wasnt asked to sign and return anything to agree to these terms. I will hand my notice in a few weeks and my last day will be 31 March 10. Do you think i should ask for the R&R to be paid? Is there any legal basis on which they have to pay it? It is potentially a few grand.

How can you expect to be paid a sum which is meant to encourage you to remain with the company when you will not be working for the company at the date stipulated for payment? There is absolutely no way that the organisation would have to pay you anything other than your normal remuneration during your notice period plus, when you do leave, any accrued holiday not taken.Hi. By leaving before July you're not entitled to the RR, it's designed to reward you for committing to the company through length of service0

A bit sneaky of the employer paying it annually...Not in the spirit of things I would think! Mine is paid monthly...It's also pensionable so may be unfair if you retire at the wrong time so to speak..Of course I’m no expert.0
