Buying inhalers abroad

Has anyone bought asthma inhalers abroad? I'm sure I read something on here about it ages ago.
Would be interested to hear if you have, where did you get them? Did you have to show a prescription? How much did they cost?
I've been wondering if i could save some cash, myself and DS need 3 sorts of inhalers and it's pretty expensive.

Don't think so - OH got 3 (only has mild asthma)
Haven't tried to get them in any other country - but I would have thought that they are readily available & easy to buy.
I got "the pill" from a chemist in Egypt as I'd forgotten mine - again it was a simple process.
BTW they were exactly the same as the ones he gets over here.0 -
Hi Tiamaria
India is a renowned place for getting generic medication. I've been to Goa and Kerala, most Brits I spoke to were picking up medication for themselves or others as part of the trip. One Welsh lady had a list as long as her arm, Valium, Diet pills, inhalers and, ahem.....Viagra. It was all a fraction of prescription costs. You just had to go to the 'pharmacy' and speak to the dispenser and hey presto. As the Indian population is so poor, the pharmaceutical companies allow their products to be manufactured under licence, the same composition but called by other names.0 -
Might need to be careful with some, as the benzodiazepines are all Class B drugs, so you'd get done for trafficking if you got those by mistake. Also check that they are the same as in the UK, they may be making a cheaper equivalent or use different chemicals not allowed in this country that could cause a flare-up.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

If you need regular medication then get a season ticket for your prescriptions which cuts down your costs here. If they are for anyone under 18 (in full time education) then they are free. If you get benefits then you should get free prescriptions. I think there are risks in buying medication that is prescribed anywhere. Why do you not just use the system we have in place i.e. the NHS.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

I get ventolins from t'internet - they cost more but they are proper ventolins rather than the generic rubbish that the local doctors stock. I would shop around but by the time I have, I may as well have bought online and paid the import duty.0
