thanks for that, i am tempted to open the account so at least i have somewhere to keep the money when fixes and bonuses end whilst looking for something else

only thing that is not clear, is that it states an a balence of £500 - if it goes below this does the account get closed? or is there a lower rate etc??

also will it be able to be funded if the account gets withdrawn to new customers.

i assume that there is no restrictions on paying into it? you are not just restricted to the opening investement??

I did that with Egg (3.25%); Tesco (3%) and ING (3.2%) - so far they all have £1 balance 'cos whenever a fix matures I'm always in for the current best fix. If I'd stashed it for a while and waited, I don't think I' have got better deals - but who knows, it might be worth it if/when rates appear to be on the rise.

i got the tesco one too, had it over a year ago now, but am consious of the fact that the bonus on that account (1.75%) is due to expire on my account in novemeber 2010, given that they already extended it until next november, when mine should have expired this november, I dont want to take any chances.

so have switched £500 out of that account today to open this skipton account on monday when the money clears in, at least then have another minimium guarenteed account that covers after nov 2010, incase rates still stay like they are now

    Opened one of these yesterday.
Very easy application, filled in online, accepted right away, initial deposit by debit card,logged-in and veiwed all my account details,up and running in less than 20 minutes.
It also accepts faster payments in and BACS out.
If only other providers were as efficient.

just thought i would let you know, as i have only logged onto skipton last night to sort out the maturity of my skipton xmas saver and noted they have sent an electronic email this month to state rate is now 2.5% now for those of us who opened this issue of the account, at least they cant drop it any further

Looks like they have a new issue available with a lower rate of guarentee (will not drop below 1.5%) for any one who wants to open the websaver now
