£3,000 as cash - credit card or loan?

Hi all.. I need to raise £3,000 to be useable as cash pretty quickly. I have no credit card debt, have good credit and no other loans, just a mortgage. I'm in full time employment and can clear the debt witin a couple of months, it's just that I have no spare capital at the moment, so need to borrow it from somewhere. The reason I need it is because of some last minute DIY/home improvement that I want to get done before Christmas (nothing like leaving it till the last minute :)).

So whats the best way for me to get this money with paying the least charges? Would it be a new credit card or some type of bank loan? Ideally I would want to be able to pay it off fairly quickly.

Any help would be much appreciated!

  • I did a bit of digging and I could apply for a Virgin credit card and do a cash transfer from Virgin to my current account, this has a 4% charge and then I believe is interest free for 16 months. Seems a good option?

many people use virgin cards successfully, a bit worrying the fee is creeping up, 4% ...

setup a DD to pay of the min every month and pay the first month manually as the DD does not always go live in time
  • Loan if possible
