christmas advent calender idea

i have come up with an idea of a challenge people could get involved with starting the 1st December
it works a bit like an advent calender each day you don't purchase one thing that you usually purchase and instead put the money in a pot sealed that will be opened in January 1st .
so for example if you purchase coffee out a lot you would skip one of these and save the cost of the coffee
it could be that you don't buy a branded product but instead went for a cheaper alternative and saved the difference ( It all depends on how much or little you want to save to spend in the January sales)
so if i saved the money from one bus journey to uni for 31 days i would have £46.50 in january
to make it a bit more fun you could buy a cheap advent calender and reward yourself with a chocolate every time you save
anyone want to join in ?

Hi
What a great idea, I always buy stuff I could do without and then I can open it and spend it on me in the january sales.:D
Tuesday I will do without my latte and pastry thats £3.49 (i'll take a tea bag in and have breaky before i leave:A)Avid freecycler (Received Dishwasher, Cooker, 0ver, fridge, freezer and Bathroom suit)
Reclaimed bank charges from natwest £5252.00
 Dealt with my Debts( still debt free 4 years on yipee:beer:
Make £2012 in 2012 0027.50/20120 -
That sounds like a brilliant idea.............make a note of what the money would have been spent on and it would maybe show us what we spend when we really needn't.:jI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
