debt and house ownership

Hi everyone.

I am looking for some advise..... I have just had a major lightbulb moment or really a weekend of light bulb moments and have decided to get to grips with my out of control debt.

I appear to have 28K plus yikees but the good news albeit small is that the mortage is up to date and all the other debt is unsecured.

Now the complicated bit... I have moved to a rented house which is a much smaller monthly payment and initially rented my house out which paid the larger mortgage payment. I tried to sell the house but despite being on the market for 6 months have had no success. (this would have cleared the debt in one go).

So have decided to rent the house out again as I can no longer fund both mortgage and rent; and call CCCS tomorrow to start setting up a DMP.

Now my question.....Does anyone know if the unsecured debt companies can force me to sell the house as it is not my home at the moment but rented out?

I do hope someone will no the answer as it is keeping me awake - well the heat is not helping either...
Thanks
Sally

  • Hi All

I thought I would update the thread even though I have not had any replies yet.

I have today plucked up the courage to ring the CCCS. What nice people they are...... I have an appointment booked for 27th June and have been advised to make small token payments in the mean time.

They also advised that house should not be at risk as the debt is unsecured.

I wondered if it would be a good idea to post a SOA on this thread incase anyone has any ideas how I can save more money. What do you think...?

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Hi

thankyou for replying - I shall put my SOA as soon as I have done it, won't be pretty reading though.

Have been advised to open a new bank account but not sure which one to choose as they often seem to be connected now - ie same parent company.

Can anyone suggest a good basic account that will do DD's and SO's and have a debit card? Currently with NatWest
