I must admit that until recently I wouldn't have dreamed of even offering a coupon for an item I wasn't buying.
Having now been re-educated by this site, I have offered coupons at most of the major food retailers - but find that the sa in Morrisons, Sommerfield and the Co-op look at me as though I am simple when they point out....but this coupon is for Tesco, or ask if I actually bought that item. Then I play dumb and say "Oh, sorry didn't read the small print" etc
The only ones who take most coupons I find are Asda and Tesco, and these vary enormously from day to day, store to store, and between differing members of staff - as a lot of threads on here will testify to.

Hi, as far as I know it's tesco, Asda and Waitrose that will accept some coupons against shopping (without buying the product). :o

It depends on the branch as to how many (e.g. of my 2 local Asdas, one accepts just one coupon per customer and the other branch accepts any amount as long as they stock the item!) Guess which one I go to when looking for a change of shop from the usual Tesco?;)

My aunty works in morrisons and said their policy is that they only take vouchers for products bought.

    On the other hand.
Went to tesco today and got my shooping slashed by half (they will take anything, including morrisons vouchers (store specific).

Now I have just started working at the same tesco store and was told in training, as I was asking questions on this very point, that they only accept one of each voucher, plus one if you have bought the product. The girl I went to certainly did not bother with that as I got 15 pound off in vouchers and had to ask her to save some for my next shopping trip!!! Makes up for getting no staff discount for a year!! Pluss she took four extra for the book I had picked up, which made it free, yippeeeee!

Anyway I got off the point a bit!

I have to say everywhere is better than marksies, where I used to work and could use no vouchers as it is all own brand!

I emailed Waitrose last week and this was their reply...............................

    Thank you for your e-mail
I can confirm that we SO accept these coupons .
I can also confirm that there is no maximum amount of vouchers you can use at any one time. Any Waitrose branch will accept the vouchers, provided that they do sell the product in question. The policy is a national one and if you encounter a problem, please ask the cashier to refer you to a Duty Manager.

I hope this answers your question but please do not hesitate to contact me again if I can be of further assistance.

My local Morrisons DO take them, but you have to be careful as to which SA you chose.....

The middle-aged women are normally a bit picky and will only take 10% off the total cost of your bill, but the young girls/lads will take any amount as long as you're confident enough - normally no problems.
