I've got one of those models - think they are a couple of years old, but I just bought a new pan from the MR website (very quick delivery) and they are still stocking spares for them....did you get the measuring spoon & cup?

    Hi,

I gpt the measuring cup with it but not the spoon thing.

I used it for the first time this morning..I had a gary rhodes packet of bread mix in my cupboard so to test it out i just used that and it came out great!...the paddle didnt even stick to the bread (heard alot of bad stories of that happening) ...so didnt have a big hole in the bottom.

Im impressed so far. What flour can this particular model get away with using...does it bake well with value plain flour?

Im going to attempt a dough mix later to make doughniuts for the kids (for the kids, yeah right!;) )

The measuring spoon isn't essential, its just got a teaspoon on one end & a tablespoon on the other.

If you are going to bake bread, you really need strong plain white/granary/wholemeal flour.....its the strong bit that matters as it contains the gluten to make the dough.

I buy big (3kg) bags of Hovis white bread flour, as it doesn't have the additives in that Asda flours do. Allinsons granary is lovely, as is Hovis wholemeal. There are also "wholesome white" flours, white but with the wholemeal bits in which look a little bit muddy when baked but taste nice too.

    Have fun experimenting!
