Been employed for a year - would I have problems with getting a mortgage

I have been working for over year at my current job after 4 months of unemployment. I found an excellent opportunity to purchase a new build shared ownership flat which the housing assoc says I have passed the criteria. The flat is 10 mins from work!
Though I have heard some banks only give mortgages to those who have worked over 2 years in the same company. Is this still the case?
