Pink eye patch - any ideas?

Hi,

My mum has recently had an operation on one eye and needs to wear an eye patch for a few weeks. The problem is that it's my niece's wedding next weekend (her grand-daughter) and she's quite down about having to wear the large black patch that the hospital gave her. I said to her today, no worries they're bound to have some on ebay, but having looked, the only ones are in America. So any suggestions as to where I can look? She wants pink to match her outfit. As a last resort, I could try sticking some fabric over the one she has, but I'd rather get a proper one for her if possible.

TIA

  • Thanks wonder_girl but I think that's going to be too big for her. I think she's going for something a little more subtle! Appreciate the help though thanks.

A tester pot of paint? Or nail varnish? Test on a small area first ...

Also, has she asked at her local pharmacy? They may be able to get something flesh coloured, I'm sure you used to be able to!

These are probably also a bit too fancy but they are gorgeous, she'd definitely be making the most of an eye patch with one! They do commissions so you could always ask if they'll do something a bit less glitzy!

Do the NHS not still do the pink ones? I was "patched" as a child for a lazy eye and mine were ALWAYS pink.

Get someone who is handy with a needle and thread to customise it for her.
Pink satin cover slip ,ribbon ties maybe? Or maybe that sounds more like something that escapedfrom the "special occassion" undies drawer!:eek::D but you know what I mean!
I was "patched" as a child too. Those were stick on pink ones i think.
I'm imagining OPs Mum looking more like that singer, wassername, Gabrielle? She wears hers with style.

Mine was on elastic. I refused to wear it in public so it was evening at home only for about 4 years and even now I remember it with horror. I'd have far rather had the surgery. As it is I have very poor vision in my right eye and it doesn't take much to give me double vision.

Ooh I love the ice cream cone fascinator :) and the fact that people are smoking in some of the photos. It is amazing what's on the web when you're prepared to look!!
