Tesco ...Monday morning (weekly) for Produce and meat
.............Tuesday morning ( roughly monthly) for Frozen
.............Wedneday am ( roughly monthly but not all on the same week) for Provisions/wines/Health/beauty bakery/cakes and Grocery ( although some do start on tuesdays)

And to top it all specials can run for anything from 3 days to a week ( ie spend £30 and get beer ( or baileys or whatever ) for £x.

ps check SEL or POS to see end date ( although these can be extended)

Sainsbury's start on Wednesdays and end on Tuesdays. Some deals will run for a few weeks though. Plus occasionally they will have specials that end on Sundays.

to be more precise they will start at start of trade wednesday morning and if they are on for a week they would end the following tuesday at 11.59pm, somtimes th offers would be on for 2 weeks or even 3, thats why when you go into sainsburys at say 8 9 on a tuesday evening you see some of the plints have just a few of the new offers(minus advertising) on display so the staff in on wednesday know where each of the new offers go

You can normally see exactly when the offer ends on the price tag which is on the item. Its a bit cryptic but read along the long list of numbers and somewhere will normally be a date, sometimes when it starts, followed by when its over but always atleast when it ends. Something like 23112009 which would mean the offer ends the 23rd november in 2009. It gets easier when you can compare a few and see the differences. Works in Tesco and Sainsburys anyway!
