Is the sports resort pack was £135 at Sainsburys still active?
It was a 20% off games consoles promo for a fortnight, but I think it ended a couple of weeks ago. Sorry.

Keep looking at sites like Hotukdeals to get best current deals ( computing or entertainment sections), the higher the temperature the hotter the deal.

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/?page=2 or search Wii

http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?action=search&keywords=wii, seems like the Gamestation is bettered by a tenner+ at Smyths if there is one near you.

Black or white + 4 games and £10 in vouchers for £169, wont last long?

It is a rubbish price as you don't get sports resort and the motion plus sensor, which costs £40+ seperately.

    But are these really necessary?

Its about what games you want to play: if you don't want to play the newer motion sensor games, and want to play last years arcade non-family games then the HMV bundle + separate games is good value. But then why are you buying a Wii? There are other better consoles for arcade shoot-em-up racing.

    Long geeky explanation:
One of the complaints about the original Wii was that the sensors where not precise - this was because it had x2 axis sensors and could not detect rotation. i.e. in tennis the swing was not detected, only the position of the racket.

Motion sensor plus adds an extra axis so it a full 3d movement detector..
    see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_MotionPlus

    Not all games are supported..

Sports Resorts Game is the Wii Sports part2 - there are twice as many games as the original and they all work with the new sensor - although not all games really need to detect rotation to work.

The sports games are aimed at group family friendly fun - they are not the best but ok. If you are not wanting that sort of game then there are lots of other games that are more, play on your own, addictive..

see this list for top games:
    uk.gamespot.com/reviews.html?type=reviews&platform=1031&mode=all&sort=score&dlx_type=all&sortdir=asc&official=all

Be aware the the wii is the least powerful least value for money games hardware compared to the others. What makes it stand apart from the rest is that the software is different i.e. not only aimed at teenage gamers..

  • As someone who has played with both the motion+ and without I notice little difference, if anything.

As stated above, the wii fit bundle at £219 is what you are looking for. The package comes with sports and sports resort as standard, even if you just purchased the console.
Some of the sports games require a bit of effort anyway and will contribute to the use of the wii fit in a small way.

I think you should trade in that Wii for some running shoes.

The only way to actually get 'fit' is to put some effort in.
