Shavings

Options
Hi I am wondering if anyone knows of where I might get shavings for bedding in stables (preferably free lol) in Northern Ireland. I am in County Tyrone and can collect or if you know of any in bulk could also arrange pick up.......

check out schools and colleges. There's plenty of shaving in the woodwork departments. Should be free too!

Doubt you have any chance in getting it free, if you do let me know! lol

I would try your local farm shop or equestrian supply shop. At the moment a bale of shavings is about £6 -£7.

Look up local saw mills & ask there.
I get all my saw dust from mine, but I do buy wood from them, I'm an existing customer, but I get the saw dust free. I go with bags & bag it myself.
  • Join your local freecycle group and ask on there, might be worth a try and free too!

use wood pellets instead! much cheaper and easier, also not VAT if you say they're for fuel use. Thats if you can get them over there, theyre sold as fuel for wood burning stoves.
