Realistic Kleeneze earnings????

Hi,
I really need to make a bit of extra cash (ends just aren't meeting as well as they used to!) and am thinking of starting to do Kleeneze. I already work 3 x 10 hour days and have a toddler so wouldn't be able to put loads of hours in. Maybe around 10 a week.
Is there anyone out there doing Kleeneze who can give me a ball park figure of what this might bring in every week/month? I appreciate it's different in different areas, etc...but just a rough idea might help me make my decision.
Thanks

Me & my OH tried kleeneze earlier in the year - and we found that there are lots of costs involved, and the amount of time needed to take & collect the brochures just meant we weren't able to break even with working full time. There is a charge of I think £5 a month for ordering on the internet, you have to buy your order forms from what I can remember, and also there are charges for delivery - the amount charged depends upon the value of your order.
Kleeneze can and does work for a lot of people, and you will also get people saying it is a waste of time. I'm not saying either of those lol, as we were glad we gave it a try, but unfortunately it did leave us a bit out of pocket, even after selling the remaining brochures on ebay!
Good luck with whatever you decide xAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

I did Kleeneze for around 18 months and I know people that do it and make some money from it. I didn't. I worked around 30-odd hours on top of my regular day job doing Kleeneze.
There are a couple of threads already on here about Kleeneze, so do a search, have a read and make your own mind up.
If this is any use to you here is a breakdown of what it took me to do a drop of around 150 books. This is from memory but good approximations still although on the conservative side time-wise!
Collate new catalogues and pack up - 3 hours
Day 1, 150 books for distribution - 2 hours
2 days later, collect 150 books - 1.5 hours
Next day, return to collect stragglers - 1 hour
Turn books for re distribution - 1.5 hours
Deliveries - 2 hours
Return trips for non-delivered items - 1.5 hours
Books not returned about 20% or 30 books. You always get damaged/wrecked/rain soaked books, so expect to replace these along with the non-returns.
Total of 12.5 hours approx. Amount of orders? Until you've be doing it for a few months and have built up a regular customer base, your orders could be very sporadic and you will get lost books. Recommended that you blanket drop for a good few weeks until you can establish regular buyers.
So, 12.5 hours work for £? amount of orders, plus it would cost £30ish to replace the lost catalogues for you to continue blanket dropping.
It was extremely labour intensive and I found that the time involvement was seriously understated, hence the 30-odd hours on top of my regular job!
It didn't work for me and I hope the above info gives you a rough idea of what is involved. I know there are additional costs involved as in any business, like paying KL to place your order over the internet, petrol, advertising, telephone etc
It does work for some though and I'm sure there will be someone along to tell you how it works for them, maybe you can make it work for you.
Good luck in whatever you choose.
p.s. If someone shows you their 'income' cheque as 'proof' of their earnings with KL, please be aware that this is GROSS income and doesn't reflect all the costs they will have to offest against it to show their net income. They will have to deduct petrol, replacement books, telephone etc all the usual costs associated with running a business. So, it may look impressive but once all these costs have been deducted it could be peanuts (or, in my case, a negative figure!)'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

We tried Kleeneze as well. It sounds really doable when the person comes to your door and tells you what he/she is earning. But in our area, we weren't very successful. The first delivery is relatively okay, although there were lots of doors that said no to solicitation and junk mail so we didn't leave a catalogue there. The pick up is the bummer, most people don't leave the catalogue outside, then if it's raining some people don't seal the bag up so then you get a wet and soggy catalogue which you have to replace, others tell you that they already have a Kleeneze person and not to leave any more catalogues for them. So with the remaning ones you have you go and do another delivery, and get a similar cycle going, not forgetting to go back to the original drop off neighbourhood and pickup any stranglers, you'll have to replace the cost of the ones that get lost by not being returned. Yes, we did get some orders but the amount of time it takes to deliver, pickup catalogues and deliver again is time consuming for a little return.
As someone said you need to factor in the monthly internet ordering cost unless you pass a certain threshold, you need to factor in your time, the cost of replacing catalogues (considering that it's winter, I imagine that would be higher than normal as people may leave the bag unzippered).
We ended up out of pocket, but it may be different for you. Good luck in whatever you decide.0 -
Thank you very much for you advice! It has certainly made me think maybe this is not the way to go! I'm glad I posted and found all this out before I forked out the money for the books! I realise some people do make it work, but they are probably much more dedicated that I would be! Hmmm.....will have to come up with something else!0
