I would personally go to The Computer Shopper magazine website, or buy the mag. They have recently (last month I think) reviewed lots of laptops in that price bracket. There are plenty of them at about that price with the latest graphics cards, give or take and they give a good review. I would be fairly retiscent about buying from PC World as it's generally more expensive. Pick instead from an (established) mail-order company with a decent warranty!

I've been looking at laptops myself and for around £1100 you could go for the Acer Travelmate 8003lmi which offers 64 Radeon 9700 graphics, 60 g hard drive, 1600 centino cpu and wireless lan though i'm thinking of getting either the 8005lmi or the 8006lmi with better graphics larger hard drive and faster cpu. Anyone have any of the above or had experience of them and can tell me if they are worth the money?

Pretty much identical to the asus m6 , and thats 979 just about every where manf 2 yrs warranty.
Best bang for the buck for the acer , if you must have acer is the 2020 variant , shop about and then try acernotebooksdirect.co.uk they have a reasonably priced extended warranty and prices.
Hope I helped.0 -
Note - link not working.
After all I just bought a laptop with a 1.5ghz Pentium-M and seperate 64mbs Radeon 9700 graphics card for £600.
Sounds like a decent price for a laptop to play some gaming , not got a link , it sounds like the guy above is paying over the odds for something very similar.0 -

I use a Dell 5150 with a 3ghz mobile P4, 512ram, 30gig HDD, 64mb FX go5200 graphics card, 15" (1600x1200res) display, 802.11g wireless. The CPU has speedstep so it will throttle back 50% on battery if required.
Ive had this for about 6months and use it about 80 % at Home 20% on the move. It cost less than £900 and it a very capable machine either playing games, office apps or the web
Whats battery life like on this laptop?Nice to Save. To save it's ____0
