Currently using Faith in Nature products which I buy from the local hippy shop.
Can anyone recommend any shampoo/conditioner brands with fewer chemicals in, and also cheap places to buy them

I think faith in nature are as good as you will get
the products are superior to normal ones and they are made from plant based sources, but I would also like to know of others and ones to avoid.
I know Proctor & Gamble and Unilever and Johnson & Johnson are supposed to be really bad and tested on animals too

There is https://www.greenpeople.co.uk. Not the cheapest I admit, but they are organic, cruelty free, kind to the environment etc etc etc - fantastic ethical credentials. Have a look at their list of links, you might come across other sites of interest to you.0

Products that don't contain propylparaben are extremely difficult to find. I think there is one specialist shop but I'm afraid I can't remember the name. Aveda and Neals Yard Remedies are my favourite but they also use propylparaben in some products. Try ebay for home made products as this works out cheaper. Also an old ecuadorian woman with georgous hair told me that every week she put avocado in her hair to condition it. She told me that you had to wait until the avocado unopened until it was 'podrido podrido podrido' - totally putrid. I tried leaving one a couple of times but never got round to putting it on my hair. If anyone else has success with this, please let me know.24.06.14 12 st 12 lb (waist 45" at fattest part of belly)

Hope I'm not out of turn here, but my wife is an independent rep for the MiEssence range of products. They have a shampoo & conditioner (well, a full range of stuff actually) with no nasties in. Just click the link in my sig then click on Hair Care under the Select A Product Range section.
For info, there's also a list of common chemicals found in 'chemical' products and also a list of some ingredients found in so-called 'natural' products. From the front page, point at 'resources' on the top menu bar, then clicking on 'understanding ingredients' on the drop-down menu.0
