Missing Pension

I have posed this question before, and still not had a satisfactory answer, so if anybody out there knows, HELP.
I was employed by a major oil company in the North Sea from 1969 until 1975, during which time I paid into the company pension scheme.
Now when I try to collect, I am told no record exists of my contributions, and having been divorced for more than 20 years, I have no documetation.
I have tried every source that I know, including the company, and they will not even admit to my eployment.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Try contacting HMRC and asking them for a copy of your full NI records and employers details from the time , if you cant get the details from the NI records , try asking the tax office for the hold of the time .

HMRC switchboard are on 0191 2135000 (try asking for the contributor caseworkers) , the tax office will be in the phone book.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
  • I think I replied to this when you origianally posed the question. Maybe you didn't like my answer because it wasn't what you wanted to hear, but in a nut shell if you had pension benefits prior to 1975 and left the scheme early then the chances are that you lost your rights to your benefits. (Sorry, I didn't make the rules) If you still don't believe me then here is an independent link with some information regarding this -

If nothing else your ex-employer should be able to tell you an answer "in theory" as to what would have happened to your benefits if you worked and contributed for the period you say. Hopefully this will put the matter to rest.
