Mortgage company said no to renting out my house.

Hi all, first post here so hoping you can help please.
I currently have a mortgage with GE Money and notified them this morning that I will be made redundant from next week. In this instance this was not a terrible situation as my Mum died recently and I want to move home to support my family. The redundancy allows me to move home I also have redundancy insurance so this would keep me ticking over until I find something. I advised GE Money more out of courtesy than anything else that I was being made redundant but didn't imagine this would affect my monthly repayments. I then told them I planned to rent out my property and they said no that this was not an option and they would not allow me to do so.
They said they would only consider this if I was changing jobs, I wish I hadn't informed them in the first place now, I was just trying to do the right thing and be honest with them. Any ideas where I go from here as I need the monthly rental income?
Thanks all.
