Unlikely to be able to do anything now you have offered your info
What made you think it was HFC (what website did you give all your details to)???0 -
Yep, they have probably put your name on a mailing list and then you get every vulture scum company under the sun rinigng you up trying to get an 'admin fee' out of you i suspect! If you have only made an application to HFC i'd ring them and say whats happening and say that you at no point gave permission for your details to be passed on to any other parties and if they did they are in breech of the data protection act, or even if you unwittingly did (maybe some very very small print on the website) say you want this stopped immediately. I dont really see what else you can do to be honest. If you're having a bad day you could also take it out on whichever vulture happens to call you that day??
As for whether all these companies does a credit check on you, i doubt it to be honest. In most cases they in no way intend to actually lend you any money so your credit score it completely irrelevant, it's all about that all important upfront fee!0
